Delete Your Connections Account

We're sorry to see you go, but we respect your decision. When you delete your account, your Connections profile will no longer be visible to other users, and your personal data will be handled as described in our Privacy Policy. If you're only looking for a temporary break, you might consider hiding or pausing your profile instead of deletion.

Important

You must be signed in to Connections to delete your account.

How to Delete Your Account (in the app or on connections.dating-universe.com)

  1. Sign In: Log in to your Connections account through the mobile app or the web.
  2. Profile Settings: Tap on your profile avatar or menu icon to access your account settings.
  3. Navigate to Settings: Within the settings menu, scroll to find the option for "Account" or "Delete Account." (On some versions, the delete option is at the very bottom of the Settings screen.)
  4. Delete Account: Tap Delete Account and follow the on-screen prompts. We may ask you to confirm your choice and optionally give feedback on why you're leaving. Complete the process by confirming the deletion.

Once you confirm deletion, your Connections account will be scheduled for removal.

What Happens When You Delete

  • Your profile, including your photos, bio, and other content, will be removed from the view of other users almost immediately. Others will no longer see you in the app.
  • Any matches and message conversations you had will be permanently erased from your account. (Note: Other users will still see conversations they had with you, up until they delete them on their side or your profile is fully purged, since copies of messages exist in both users' inboxes.)
  • Your personal data will be deleted from our active systems in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
  • Connections implements a 90-day safety retention window for deleted accounts - this means that while your profile is not visible and not accessible to you or others, we securely retain the data for 90 days. This window exists to enhance user safety (for example, to investigate any reports of illegal activity or violations that were in progress at the time of deletion) and to allow for account recovery if you change your mind.

Account Recovery Option (within 90 Days)

If you deleted your account but decide to return within the 90-day window, you may create a new account using the same credentials (email/phone number) you used before. Our system may recognize your details and, in some cases, offer to restore your previous account data such as your name, age, gender, and possibly profile content - provided that data has not already been wiped. This is meant as a convenience so you don't have to start from scratch.

After 90 days, however, account data is permanently removed and cannot be recovered; you would need to start a fresh account.

Please Note

  • Deleting the App vs. Deleting Account: Simply removing or uninstalling the Connections app from your device does not delete your account. If you uninstall the app but do not delete your account as described above, your profile could still appear to others and your data will remain on our servers. To fully delete your presence from Connections, you must follow the account deletion steps.
  • Subscriptions: If you have an active paid subscription (for example, if Connections offered a premium plan via the App Store or Play Store) - deleting your account does not automatically cancel your subscription. You must cancel the subscription through the platform you purchased it (e.g., through your Apple ID subscriptions or Google Play subscriptions) to avoid further billing. Connections does not have control over third-party subscription billing.
  • Data Download: If you wish to download a copy of your personal data (messages, profile info, etc.) for your records, please request this before deleting your account. Once the account is deleted, you will no longer have access to retrieve data. (You can contact our support for assistance with data export under applicable law before deletion.)
  • Retention Period: As stated, we retain your data for 90 days post-deletion request. During this period, the data is inaccessible in the app but still stored securely. This retention is a safeguard - for instance, to detect and prevent users who were banned from immediately creating new accounts, or to assist with any legal issues that might arise shortly after deletion. After 90 days, we permanently purge your personal data from our primary systems. Some residual data (such as log records) may remain in our backups or archives for a short additional period, but those are also periodically erased and are protected.

Safety Consideration

If you deleted your account due to safety concerns (e.g., harassment by another user), please also consider reaching out to us or submitting a report before you go. We take such reports seriously and can take action to warn or ban offending users to protect others. Your feedback can help keep the community safe.
