Safety Toolkit Disclaimer

Last Updated: 1 March 2026

Important Notice

Connections ("the App", "we", "us", "our") provides a Safety Toolkit with various features designed to supplement—not replace—your personal safety measures and judgment. By using any Safety Toolkit feature, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined on this page.

No Guarantee of Safety

The Safety Toolkit is provided "as is" and does not guarantee your personal safety. While we have built these features with care, no technology can fully protect you in every situation. These tools are meant to assist you, but they are not a substitute for:

  • Your own personal judgment and awareness of your surroundings.
  • Calling local emergency services (such as dialling 112 in India, 911 in the US, or your country's emergency number) when you feel you are in immediate danger.
  • Telling a trusted friend or family member about your plans before meeting someone in person.
  • Taking common-sense safety precautions such as meeting in a public place, arranging your own transport, and staying sober.

Feature Limitations

You should be aware that the Safety Toolkit features have the following technical and practical limitations:

1. Check-In Timer & Notifications

  • The check-in timer runs within the app and depends on the app remaining active in the background. If the app is force-stopped, uninstalled, or the device is turned off, the timer and related notifications will stop working.
  • Notifications may be delayed or blocked by your device's battery optimisation settings, Do Not Disturb mode, or notification permissions.
  • The timer is a reminder tool only. It does not automatically alert anyone or contact emergency services if you fail to check in.

2. Emergency Contact Sharing (SMS)

  • Location sharing and SOS messages are sent via your device's native SMS app. Connections does not send these messages on your behalf—we open your SMS app with a pre-filled message for you to send.
  • Message delivery depends on your mobile network, signal strength, and your carrier's SMS service. We cannot guarantee that messages will be delivered or delivered on time.
  • Location accuracy depends on your device's GPS, network conditions, and whether you have granted location permissions. Indoor locations or areas with poor GPS coverage may be inaccurate.

3. SOS Feature

  • The SOS feature initiates a phone call to your selected emergency contact and prepares an SMS. It does not automatically contact police, ambulance, or other emergency services.
  • If no emergency contacts are saved, the SOS feature will attempt to call your country's emergency services number. However, this is a best-effort feature and is not guaranteed to work in all regions or network conditions.
  • Always know how to independently contact your local emergency services.

4. Fake Call Feature

  • The fake call feature simulates an incoming call to help you exit an uncomfortable situation. It does not connect to any real person or emergency service.
  • This feature is intended as a social tool only and should not be relied upon as a safety mechanism.

5. Share Location

  • Location sharing uses your device's GPS and sends coordinates via SMS. The accuracy and availability of your location depends on your device hardware, GPS signal, and location permissions.
  • Location data may be stale if your device has not recently obtained a GPS fix.

6. Profile Sharing

  • Sharing a person's profile snapshot or link with a trusted contact is informational only. The information shared reflects the other person's profile at the time of sharing and may not be accurate, verified, or up to date.
  • Profile verification badges indicate that a user completed our verification process; they do not guarantee the person's character, intentions, or behaviour.

Your Responsibility

By using the Safety Toolkit, you acknowledge that:

  • You are solely responsible for your own safety when meeting someone from the internet in person.
  • You will not rely exclusively on any feature in this toolkit for your personal safety.
  • You will always have a personal backup safety plan that does not depend on this app or any technology.
  • You understand that technology can fail, and you will take independent precautions accordingly.
  • Meeting strangers carries inherent risks regardless of any safety tools available.

Data & Privacy

All Safety Toolkit data (emergency contacts, date details, timer settings) is stored locally on your device only. Connections does not transmit, store, or have access to your Safety Toolkit data on our servers. If you delete the app or clear app data, this information will be permanently lost.

SMS messages sent through the SOS and location sharing features are sent directly from your device via your mobile carrier. Connections does not process, store, or have any record of these messages.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Connections, its parent company, affiliates, officers, directors, employees, agents, and licensors shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to personal injury, emotional distress, loss of life, or any other damages arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the Safety Toolkit features.

This limitation of liability applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or any other basis, even if Connections has been advised of the possibility of such damage.

In Case of Emergency

If you are in immediate danger, do not rely on this app. Contact your local emergency services immediately:

  • India: 112 (All emergencies) / 100 (Police) / 1091 (Women Helpline)
  • United States: 911
  • United Kingdom: 999 / 112
  • Europe: 112
  • Australia: 000
  • Other countries: Look up your local emergency number before going on a date.

Recommendation

We strongly recommend the following every time you meet someone from the internet:

  1. Always meet in a public place for the first several dates.
  2. Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going, who you are meeting, and when you expect to be back—independently of this app.
  3. Arrange your own transportation to and from the date.
  4. Keep your phone charged and accessible at all times.
  5. Trust your instincts—if something feels wrong, leave immediately.
  6. Do not consume excessive alcohol or substances that impair your judgment.
  7. Set up your phone's built-in emergency SOS feature as a backup.
